Squee!! A not at all good picture of a new to me species of bee! This is a blueberry digger bee. Which I have never seen before. Both blueberries and this bee are native to the United States. Though highbush blueberry bushes like this one are not native to this area.
I am totally doing a little happy dance here!

Nature, wise, up at the big house as we call it, there were the black vultures. Carpenter bees, continuing their decades long destruction of the front porch. Fire ants in the front yard.
The neighbors game camera and hunting blind over on the backside of the property – I walked over there too… It’s a little too early for the pond sliders to be up laying their eggs though that will be soon.
Turkey scratches.
Standard rural stuff.

So I was back doing some work at the folks old house. And I did some investigation of the old shop. The roof blew off in a storm, a couple of years ago or most of the roof did. And it was not safe before then.
There are a couple of black vultures nesting in there, but there is no way to easily view the nest.
Disturbing them had me imagining I was in some post apocalyptic wasteland. With vultures roosting, in roofless buildings.

The pollening in the United States South, Georgia in my case, is fully underway.
I feel like this could be expanded upon in a TTRPG session. At least for certain areas. It’s vaguely similar to the whole concept of Santa Ana winds. Where certain crimes would get slightly lighter sentences if the winds were blowing.
Perhaps hallucinogenic spores blow out along a trade route once per year?
