A tired Army sergeant was heading home after a long overseas deployment just before the holidays. He boarded a packed train leaving Chicago, and every seat was taken. He walked through three carriages before spotting the only empty seat — except it was being used by a tiny, fluffy lap dog sitting on a cushion beside a very elegant woman. The sergeant politely said, “Ma’am, would you mind putting your dog on the floor so I can sit down?” Without even glancing up, she replied coldly, “You Americans have absolutely no manners. Can’t you see my precious Fifi is comfortable there?” The sergeant, worn out from travel, walked through the train again looking for another seat. No luck. He returned and asked again, “Ma’am, I’ve had a long trip and I’m exhausted. Could you please move your dog so I can sit?” The woman scoffed loudly so everyone nearby could hear. “Typical American,” she said. “So pushy, stubborn, and rude.” That did it. Since the train was still stopped at the platform, the sergeant calmly picked up the little dog, opened the window, and tossed it out onto the station platform, then sat down. The woman gasped and began shouting, “Is there no gentleman here who will defend me? This brute must be taught a lesson!” A well-dressed British gentleman sitting nearby slowly folded his newspaper and looked over at the soldier. Then he said politely, “Good sir… I’ve noticed Americans do quite a few things differently from us. You drink coffee instead of tea… you drive on the wrong side of the road… and now it appears…” He paused. “…you’ve thrown the wrong bitch out the window.” 😄🇬🇧🇺🇸
