If you have a home, you may be able to sell it, purchase one in another country, and reach the investment threshold for citizenship by investment even if you're not "wealthy".
If you are moving to a lower cost place, you may have enough that you can make reasonable investments and not need to work.

She was 35 when she was forced to choose:
Live on the streets of her home country, or leave the only life she had ever known.
She chose to start again.
With the support of Trans Rescue, she traveled from Morocco to Turkey, to Thailand, and finally to Malaysia. Now she has a safe and stable home where she can rebuild her life.

Getting hitched -
Marriage or domestic partnerships are options for getting a partner out. We discourage getting married only for a visa - authorities have long experience detecting this - but if you have evidence (shared bills, photos) of partnership, and one partner has a route in, the other can come along.
Couples can take advantage of DAFT. One comes on DAFT, the other can now come as a partner and work normally.

Can you make a living remotely?
Many countries have digital nomad, rentista, or remote worker visas. You demonstrate an ongoing income from a remote source, and can live in the country, but not take local employment.
This is mostly computer work, but not all. Smalll crafts people can also qualif if the 'sale' takes place offshore.
And computer work needn't be programming - photoshop artists, animatiors, voice actors too.

Form a company (fairly simple) in the Netherlands.
You can now operate your company - which could be doing most anything.
You must demonstrate your company is innovative in some way, and that you
are a highly skilleld worker, but this is do-able, especially if you have a college degree.

We are happy to announce that the NGO workers arrested last week are now free, but the organizations continue to be affected by the raids on their offices. We are working to determine what information was compromised, who is in danger, and to move leaders to we are working with partners in and out of #Uganda to free them. NGO staff and secret housing are compromised, we still need funds
Thanks to all of you we are at 1469 of the 5000€ goal.

Activists in #Uganda have been negotiating the release of the 5 community workers in #LGBT orgs arrested this week.
We are terrified because the cases will soon be turned over to the courts. If this happens, the men are potentially facing death sentences.
We are coordinating efforts with other NGOs. We have collectivelly raised 1100 of 5000€ needed to release them and prevent further damage.

In criminalized environments, extortion often follows a pattern:
Accusations - arrests - raid - money demands.
This is now a recurring reality for LGBTQ+ community workers in #Uganda.
Recently #Queer orgs in #Uganda were attacked, leaders arrested, and are being extorted with false accusations. We have raised 1100 of 5000€ needed to release them and prevent further damage.
