Favourite Stations - Piccadilly Circus Meet Katie, a London Blue Badge tourist guide whose favourite Tube station is Piccadilly Circus. I've started a new branch of the Tube Mapper project exploring people's favourite stations or stops on the London Underground Tube Map. I meet people at their favourite stations, taking photos and interviewing them to find out what makes it so special. The station opened on 10 March 1906, this Zone 1 station is served by the Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines — but for Katie, it’s much more than just a stop on the map. Growing up a little further out of London, she remembers the feeling of stepping out of Piccadilly Circus and instantly knowing she was in the heart of the city. The noise, the lights, the architecture, all the tiny details above your eyeline, create that unmistakable “this is London” moment. Angel Edmonton Just like Islington, Edmonton's Angel takes its name from a former pub, the Angel Tavern which was demolished in 1968. Interestingly, Edmonton bus station has canopy covers that resemble angel wings with a bus roundel halo on top Here's Andreya as a bus Angel!

Shadow Man I love the secret feature at Nine Elms London Underground station that reveals itself during a sunny day. If you arrive at the perfect moment, the roundel logo is beautifully projected onto the floor. A great place to capture shadows.

Playing the Platform Piano

Portrait from my 'favourite stations' project. Here's Charlotte pretending to play the floor tiles which look a bit like piano keys.

It's amazing how many people have never noticed this feature at Waterloo tube station. The platform piano keys were added in 1986-1988 when the station was retiled based on artist Christopher Tipping's ‘theatrical themes’ design.

Guinness Tunnel - Tottenham Court Road I quite like the dramatic effect of some of the temporary advert wraps that take over a walkway or small area of a station. This black passageway certainly caught my eye and is part of TfL's campaign with Guinness Open Gate Brewery London.

Favourite Stations - Gloucester Road

Meet Anthony, a content creator and the face behind HiddenGemsLondon. His favourite Underground station is Gloucester Road.

I've started exploring people's favourite stations or stops on the London Underground Tube Map. I meet people at their favourite stations, taking photos and interviewing them to find out what makes it so special.

Originally named Brompton (Gloucester Road) when it opened on 1 October 1868, Gloucester Road is now a busy Zone 1 station served by the District, Circle & Piccadilly lines.

Anthony loves showcasing the beautiful, often overlooked parts of London. For him every area, including every tube station, tells it's own unique story.

“The minute I stepped off the train at Gloucester Road, I knew it was my favourite.”

From the warm yellow lighting to the striking Victorian architecture and the art installation on Platform 4, the station feels like a time capsule, almost like stepping into a museum.

Leaving Hanwell

Photo of an Elizabeth line train leaving Hanwell Station.

A short walk from here is the Wharncliffe Viaduct. The viaduct was built in 1836 and is a picturesque place to view trains zooming on their respective journeys. I'll see if I can find some photos of it!

Travelling on the Tuba I was recently commissioned to capture portraits & headshots of musicians in the collective London Brass. Our shoot took place in Covent Garden, so I couldn't resist taking this fun photo outside the Underground Station. They're off to Tooting Bec!

Front & rear photos of the new Piccadilly line trains which were being tested a few weekends ago. I love the futuristic look of the trains but definitely wish the rear red lights were similar to the front LEDS. Taken at Turnham Green and Hammersmith London Underground stations.
